How do I get a Book button on Google Search and Maps?

Reserve with Google is what puts a Book button on Google Search and Maps. Switch it on from the Online booking page, and Bella sends your listing to Google once a day. Google can take another day or so to show the button, and it only does so in the countries and business categories where it offers Reserve with Google.

What the Book button on Google actually is

Reserve with Google is a booking partnership. Bella sends Google your business, your services and a booking action, and where Google offers it, your listing can carry a Book button. Someone who taps it lands on your Bella booking steps, picks a service and a time, and the appointment drops into your scheduler like any other online booking. The same listing feeds both surfaces, so the button can turn up in a Search result and on your Google Maps listing.

This is a different thing from pasting your booking URL into the Appointment URL field of your Google Business Profile. That puts a booking link on your listing, takes five minutes, and works with any booking system and any business category. Reserve with Google goes deeper, and it is the route that can produce a proper Book button. Plenty of businesses run both.

Google decides whether and where the Book button appears. It offers Reserve with Google in some countries and business categories and not in others, so switching the toggle on publishes you to Google and the button itself is Google's call. No booking system can promise you one.

What you need before you switch it on

Bella shows this as a checklist on the Google Reserve card. Reserve with Google works the same way for a salon, a spa or a clinic; what changes is whether Google maps your business type to one of its own categories. A business that fails one of these rows is held back from the daily send:

  • Online booking switched on. The Google Reserve switch stays disabled until it is.
  • A complete address in Business settings: street, city, state, postcode and country.
  • That address pinned by Google. Search for your address in Business settings and pick the match so the map coordinates are set.
  • A business type Google can map to one of its categories. A business left on "Other" alone has nothing to map.
  • Your booking page publishing the full street address. Reserve with Google sends clients to your door, so Address under Settings, Online booking, Appearance, Contact details needs to be set to Full address. Suburb-only or hidden holds your listing back.
  • At least one service and one team member available for online booking. Enquiry-only services do not count, because nobody can book them.

The checklist stays on the card after you switch on. Change your business type later, or hide your address from your booking page, and the matching row turns amber with a link to the setting.

How to switch it on

  1. 1Open the Online booking page in your dashboard. That is the share page with your booking link and QR code, not Settings, Online booking, Appearance.
  2. 2Find the Google Reserve card and turn the switch on.
  3. 3Work through the checklist that appears. Every amber row links to the setting that fixes it.
  4. 4Leave it alone. Your listing goes out on the next daily send.

How long it takes to appear

Bella sends your listing to Google once a day. Google can take another day or so after that to show the Book button. Two days between flicking the switch and seeing anything is normal, and longer happens.

That second wait is Google's side of the job. It takes the feed in, checks your business against its own eligibility rules, and decides what to render on your listing. Neither you nor we can hurry it along, so it pays to get the checklist right before you switch on.

Where clients land when they tap Book

The Book button opens your booking steps: choose a service, pick a time, confirm. It is the same destination as your Straight to booking link, so your landing page, banner and gallery are skipped for someone who has already decided to book.

From there everything behaves the way it does for any other online booking. Your availability, buffer times, deposit or card-on-file rules, cancellation policy and booking approval all apply, and the appointment lands in your scheduler.

Traffic arriving this way shows up under Google in the booking-source breakdown, inside Detailed analytics on the same Online booking page, next to Instagram, Facebook, AI assistants and Direct. Worth a look a fortnight after you switch on.

Reserve with Google or a booking link on your Google Business Profile

Both put your booking in front of someone on Google. They are set up in different places and behave differently:

If you want to add booking to your Google Business Profile today, paste the Straight to booking URL into the Appointment URL field. Copy it from the Online booking page. Then switch on Reserve with Google underneath and let it catch up in its own time.

Is the Book button worth the setup?

It costs one switch and a tidy address, so the bar is low. As for what it returns, here is what we can see across the platform: in August 2026, the first full month the channel was live, businesses on Bella took 195 confirmed appointments through Reserve with Google, across 15 businesses.

Read that for what it is. The volumes are small and the channel is one month old. Treat it as one more place clients can reach you, alongside your booking link, your Instagram bio and your website.

If clients are finding you through AI assistants as well as Google, our AI booking page covers that side, including how Bella AI and MCP let you work with your own data.

The Book button has not appeared. What now?

  1. 1Give it two days. One daily send from Bella, then Google's own processing.
  2. 2Open the Google Reserve card and check every checklist row is green.
  3. 3Confirm at least one service and one team member are still available for online booking, and that the service is not set to Enquiry only.
  4. 4Check Address on your booking page is still set to Full address.
  5. 5If it stays quiet, Google may not offer Reserve with Google for your country or business category yet. Your booking link on your Google Business Profile still works, which is why it is worth having both.

If the button on your listing opens your landing page, check whether you also pasted a URL into your Google Business Profile at some point. That link is separate from Reserve with Google, and it may well be the one your listing is using. Set it to the Straight to booking URL, which ends in /booking.
