What is referral programme?
A salon referral programme rewards clients who introduce friends with fixed-amount discounts. Bella Booking gives every client a unique refer-a-friend link. When the friend books and their first paid appointment is checked out (non-zero value), both sides can earn a fixed reward that expires after the months you configure. Clients share from their online booking account; your team can copy links from the client Wallet.
The referral programme rewards clients who introduce their friends. Turn it Active under Settings → Referrals (or Programmes → Referrals), set a fixed friend reward and a fixed referrer reward, optionally cap how many referrer rewards one client can earn per month, and choose how many months issued rewards stay usable. Each client gets a unique code and shareable link from their online booking Account → Refer a friend page (or your team can copy it from Wallet → Referrals). The friend uses their welcome reward on their first appointment; once that first paid appointment is checked out (non-zero value), the referrer earns automatically. Rewards are always fixed currency amounts — never percentages. Referrals share the same plan feature as Loyalty (Professional) but are a separate programme — you can run referrals with loyalty paused. Available on the Professional plan.

Key capabilities of referral programme
Unique link per client
Every client gets a referral code and shareable link. Friends open the link, book, and use their welcome reward on their first appointment.
Fixed-amount rewards only
Friend and referrer rewards are fixed currency amounts (for example 5 or 15 in your currency) — there is no percentage option, so the maths stays clear at checkout.
Automatic referrer payout
Once the friend’s first paid appointment is checked out (non-zero value), the referring client earns their reward automatically. No manual approval step.
Reward expiry
Configure how many months an issued reward stays usable before it expires.
Optional monthly cap
Limit how many earned referrer rewards one client can receive per month — useful if a few clients share widely.
Client self-serve sharing
Clients sign in to your online booking site, open Account → Refer a friend, and see their code, link, friends referred, and available rewards.
Team copy from Wallet
Your team can copy any client’s link from Clients → Wallet → Referrals without asking the client to dig it up.
Referral reward earned message
When a referrer earns a reward, the Referral reward earned automated message can notify them (email on by default).
Referrals report
Track conversions, rewards issued and redeemed, and reward value under Insights → Reports (or Programmes).
How referrals work
Activate the programme
Go to Settings → Referrals, set friend and referrer fixed amounts, expiry, and optional monthly cap, then switch the programme to Active.
Clients share their link
Clients open Account → Refer a friend on your booking site, or your team copies the link from Wallet → Referrals.
Friend books and checks out
The friend books via the link and uses their welcome reward on their first appointment.
Referrer is rewarded
When that first paid appointment is checked out, the referrer’s fixed reward is issued automatically and can notify them by email.

Frequently asked questions
Is the referral programme the same as loyalty?
No. Referrals share the same Professional plan feature as Loyalty, but they are a separate programme with their own settings. You can run referrals with loyalty paused.
Can rewards be a percentage off?
No. Friend and referrer rewards are fixed currency amounts only. That keeps the discount clear at checkout.
When does the referrer earn their reward?
After the referred friend’s first paid appointment is checked out — not at booking time, and not for zero-value appointments.
Where do clients find their referral link?
On your online booking site: Account → Refer a friend. My profile is for contact and consent only and does not include referrals. Your team can also copy the link from the client’s Wallet → Referrals.
Which plan includes referrals?
Referrals are available on the Professional plan (same plan feature as Loyalty).
